Who are we. . . The School Nurse Organization of Washington (SNOW) was organized in 1956 as a non-profit organization committed to the practice of quality school nursing to promote optimal health and learning to students.	SNOW is comprised of ten geographical areas. Each area has a designated representative who serves as a member of the SNOW Board of Directors. The area representative promotes membership within the Area represented and conducts meetings to discuss SNOW business and/or provides continuing education.
Our purpose   v To strive for improved school nursing services fostering higher standards and increased availability of health services thereby enhancing the health status of the school community thus strengthening the educational process v To serve as liaison and resource for educational and standard setting programs toward certification of school nurses in the educational setting. v To provide opportunities for school nurses to exchange ideas, seek solutions to common problems and encourage professional growth and unity. v To facilitate communication among school nurses and other organizations and agencies concerned with health and education. v To provide leadership and consultation to colleges developing and maintaining programs and pathways promoting the specialty of school nursing.
Twice yearly SNOW provides a professional development conference to advance school nurse practice throughout Washington State. A newsletter “The Flurries” is published four times a year keeping membership informed about school nursing throughout Washington State.	It is imperative for everyone to reach out and touch someone to join our group.
