Area 8: Linda Kirk

I’m Linda Kirk. I’m a farmer’s daughter from Prosser, Washington. I received my B.S.N. from WSU in 1980. While finishing my last year of nursing school I met my husband, Leo. He is a native of the Napa Valley and we lived 17 years in Walnut Creek, California where I worked in Berkeley as an ICU, CCU, and Cardiac Rehab Nurse.

My husband got this crazy idea to relocate to the South and we proceeded to move our daughter, son, and black Labrador to North Carolina, followed by a move to New Jersey, and then finally back to the West Coast to my hometown of Prosser, Washington.

I started working as a school nurse in Maplewood, New Jersey where there is a nurse in every school. Boy was I surprised when I started working in Washington State as a school nurse! “You want me to work in three schools and manage 1300 students and delegate medication administration to secretaries?”

I completed a Masters of Education for School Nurses from Cambridge College in 2003.

In my nursing career I have always been involved in the nursing professional organizations related to the field of nursing I practiced. I have found S.N.O.W. to be a great resource of expertise to improve my school nursing practice. I’m honored to be serving as an area representative and look forward to many years of “going back to school each fall!”
