Past President Cheryl Sampson

I am Cheryl Husa (Funke) Sampson, School Nurse Specialist, Central Valley School District, Spokane Valley, WA. As of 2008-2009 school year my position is 1day per week as a school nurse in a building and 4 days per week as a lead nurse. I obtained my BSN in 1977 from Intercollegiate Center for Nursing Education, WSU; and a MN in 1982, from University of Washington. My nursing career started in the hospital, but I quickly realized that this was not my proper niche. Since then I have spent 8 years as a Public Health Nurse in Longview and in Spokane; over 7 years in nursing education at Everett Community College and the Intercollegiate Center for Nursing Education; and, since 1995, I have been a School Nurse in Central Valley School District in Spokane Valley.

I have been a member of SNOW since September of 1995 and have been on the SNOW Board since 2001. I have really enjoyed my time on the SNOW Board. We have a great group of school nurses in this state and we have so much to learn from each other. It is fascinating to find out the differences in school nurse practice across the state.
